Personal Safety Program
EQUATE's Personal Safety Programs enable employees to safely perform their work. Some of the main elements of this program are:
- Life critical safety policies such as:
- Isolation of Energy Sources (Lockout/Tagout),
- Confined Space entry,
- Safe Work Permitting
- Working at heights,
- Electrical Safety,
- PPE requirements – Selection and Use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Rules for Operation of motor vehicles –This procedure outlines rules and consequences of violations for use of motor vehicles.
- BBP (Behavior Based Performance) to improved safety. All employees participate in observing ongoing activities ensure that they being done with all required safety precautions. A software tool is used to document and analyze the acceptable behaviors. Actions are then identified to improve the behavior.
- Off-the-job safety program: At EQUATE, we maintain that “Safety Should Always Be "On"-Safety is not a switch that is turned on at work. We believe that employees have fewer on-the-job accidents when safety is part of their value system and lifestyle even outside the work environment.
- Maintaining records of all work-related injuries- This helps us measure and set goals to continuously improve our safety performance.
- Accidents, Incidents and Conditions Reporting (AICR); This includes investigation to identify the root causes of the incidents and to recommend programs or preventive measures to prevent their re-occurrence. By understanding what happens in an accident, we can look at what can be done to prevent it from happening again. Compiling AIC records and reports helps us learn from these events and also forms the basis for measuring our safety performance.
