GOAL
The EQUATE Medical Center (E-Med) provides programs and services to protect, promote and maintain the health of all EQUATE employees.
OBJECTIVES
The objectives of the programs and services provided by the EQUATE Medical Center are to:
- Ensure that prospective employees are medically fit to do jobs, for which they are likely to be employed, without hazard to themselves or others.
- Detect and assess occupational and non-occupational diseases / injuries and provide counseling, treatment, referral and rehabilitation, as appropriate.
- Assess risk to health in the workplace and protect employees against occupational health hazards.
- Determine fitness for work of employees who return to work following injury, illness or extended absence.
- Render emergency medical care and first aid to employees both at the plant site and at the EQUATE Medical Center.
- Provide personal medical services to employees as provided by an occupational health physician.
- Provide health promotion / education services to employees to prevent life style related and occupational diseases.
- Design and implement a program of medical surveillance for specific diseases and carry out epidemiological evaluation / studies when appropriate.
- Maintain employees' medical records and ensure confidentiality of employees' medical records.
- Ensure that health data collection, analysis, and reporting are accomplished.
- Interact with the concerned EQUATE departments and help in implementing EQUATE Health, Safety and Environmental policies, procedures and rules.
