EQUATE was established in 1995 and began production in November 1997. The plant complex was officially inaugurated by H.H. Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the former Amir of Kuwait. Shareholders: Dow Chemical Company (42.5%), PIC (42.5%), Boubyan Petrochemical Company (9%) and Qurain Petrochemical Industries Company (6%).
