EQUATE honors Six Sigma certified employees

EQUATE Petrochemical Company held a celebration to honor 10 of its employees who went through Six Sigma training and certification.

Participants in the celebration included EQUATE President and CEO Hamad Al-Terkait, the company’s executive management, the Six Sigma leadership team, as well as other employees.

In 2006, EQUATE launched its Six Sigma program with a very ambitious plan to certify a large number of employees and embed the concept and methodologies of the proven Six Sigma approach in solving problems and correcting work processes deficiencies

EQUATE has adopted the Dow Chemical Six Sigma training and certification program whereby a candidate gains green belt project lead Six Sigma status after working on a qualified actual project from his department.

Each project must demonstrate a number of criteria to qualify as a Six Sigma project and must generate saving or quantifiable improvement to the organization. So far, the certified projects generated over USD 7 million in savings on annual basis. EQUATE has also set a target to reach USD 20 million dollar of saving through Six Sigma projects by 2010.

EQUATE is keen in its drive to remain a leader in the industry by adopting new initiatives to enhance the performance and results of its human resources and employing the best industrial processes and supporting tools.
