Kuwait — EQUATE Petrochemical Company, Kuwait’s first international petrochemical joint-venture, earned the Gulf Petrochemicals & Chemicals Association (GPCA) Plastics Excellence Award 2015 for the category of Excellence in Plastic Products & Processes.

EQUATE President & CEO Mohammad Husain said, “As a firm believer in the value of continuous development to achieve overall sustainability, EQUATE is determined on delivering innovation for the benefit and advantage of all stakeholders, especially industrial entities, customers and all consumers of plastic products. On his part, EQUATE Research & Development (R&D) Leader Arif Al-Qattan said, “The Company developed the attributes of a grade of Linear Low Density Polyethylene (LLDPE). Such an improvement of this grade has enhanced its clarity and reduced the blocking properties of plastics manufactured using this grade. The applications of this modified grade, developed by EQUATE in cooperation with a number of plastic manufacturers, include bags for vegetables, fruits and bakery, as well as reducing the cost of manufacturing such bags.”

EQUATE’s support to customers includes evaluating new products, promoting innovative applications, ensuring regulatory compliance, handling inquiries, guaranteeing technical acceptance of products, as well as providing relevant economic and technical solutions.

The GPCA Plastics Excellence Awards ceremony was held for the fifth consecutive year on the sidelines of GPCA 6th International Conference for Plastic Conversion (GPCA PlastiCon 2015) which was sponsored by EQUATE in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates. GPCA Secretary-General Dr.Abdulwahab Al-Sadoun, a number of industrial leaders and several experts from around the world attended the ceremony.
