EQUATE honors scholarship students 1st private Kuwaiti company to launch such programs

Kuwait, August 2011 — EQUATE Petrochemical Company hosted a ceremony to honor the recipients of its university scholarships supervised by the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE).

During “EQUATE’s Scholars Ghabga,” EQUATE VP for Technical Services and head of its Corporate Social Responsibility Team Mohammad Al Benali said, “As EQUATE is the first private Kuwaiti company to launch such a partnership with MOHE, the two university scholarship programs launched by EQUATE so far sponsor over 30 male and female students continuing their education in the United States in a number of majors aimed at supporting Kuwait’s academic efforts.”

Al Benali noted that the first scholarship program specifically targets EQUATE’s Kuwaiti employees who meet a set criteria based on their performance at the company, while the other program was developed for Kuwaiti high school graduates wishing to pursue undergraduate university degrees.

On his part, MOHE’s Assistant Undersecretary for Scholarship Affairs and Culture Relations Rashed Al-Nuwaihedh expressed utmost appreciation and gratitude for EQUATE’s unwavering support to overall academic efforts within and outside Kuwait.

Established in 1995, EQUATE is an international joint venture between Petrochemical Industries Company (PIC), The Dow Chemical Company (Dow), Boubyan Petrochemical Company (BPC) and Qurain Petrochemical Industries Company (QPIC). Commencing production in 1997, EQUATE is the single operator of a fully integrated world-scale manufacturing facility producing over 5 million tons annually of high-quality petrochemical products which are marketed throughout the Middle East, Asia, Africa and Europe.
