EQUATE celebrates startup of new EG plant

EQUATE Petrochemical Company celebrated the beginning of commercial operations at the new Ethylene Glycol (EG-2) production unit which was under commissioning by the company since last July.

The successful startup took place on August 25.

With a capacity of 600,000 metric tons annually (MTA), this new unit is the largest single EG plant of its size to use METEOR technology.

During the startup celebration on August 27, EQUATE’s CEO Hamad Al-Terkait lauded this achievement which is part of the Olefins II Kuwait Program (OL2K), adding “this is a great milestone for EQUATE, its customers, its shareholders and the entire EG world-wide market.”

Al-Terkait congratulated and expressed heartfelt gratitude to all individuals who contributed to this successful project, noting “We are proud to have achieved our plans on time and in accordance with the company’s overall strategy.”

The celebration was attended by the Manufacturing Managers Team, EG Unit Production Team, EG-2 Commissioning & Startup Team, EG-2 Project Team, as well as representatives from the OL2K other EQUATE departments.
