The 1st of its kind at Middle East universities

EQUATE Petrochemical Company and The Dow Chemical Company (Dow) sponsored the founding and establishing of “EQUATE Process Automation Lab” at the Electrical Engineering Department of Kuwait University’s College of Engineering & Petroleum.

Being the first of its kindly lab at all Middle East universities, the inauguration was attended by several senior officials from EQUATE, Dow and the college who received a brief presentation regarding the lab’s facilities and equipment, including a fully integrated control system for industrial operations of production units of oil, petrochemicals and other energy fields which would greatly benefit the academic efforts of students pursuing degrees in electrical engineering.

The lab, containing a full Water Batch Plant, is aimed at supporting students and faculty members in conducting research and experiments within a virtual environment to apply their academic studies by utilizing a number of state-of-the-art equipment to develop their hands-on experience in relevant engineering fields.

The lab includes several specialized equipment, such as a full virtual plant, integrated distribution control system, a number of advanced computers and many field instruments.

Over the past 18 years, Dow has been committed to environmental and social responsibilities in Kuwait by supporting the development of Kuwaiti youth along with promoting sustainability and environmental protection. Dow is the largest foreign investor in Kuwait, and through their joint ventures is the largest private employer of Kuwaiti nationals within the petrochemical industry.
