EQUATE Achieves 8 Million Safe Work Hours:

Third record broken within 2005

KUWAIT – October 17 – EQUATE Petrochemical Company set a new safety record on 17 Oct 05, when EQUATE employees and contractors completed eight million work-hours without a single lost workday. This achievement signifies that the employees, shift workers and contractors at EQUATE worked a combined total of eight million man-hours during which time no one missed a day of work due to any work related injuries.

“Since 27 May 2003 – over the last 873 days we have had no lost work day injuries.  This achievement is a safety milestone for EQUATE, as our employees along with our contracted workforce have achieved it despite the work environment and other challenges we have come across in the plant throughout the year” said Hamad Al -Terkait, EQUATE’s President and CEO.

He went on to comment that this achievement makes a double bonanza for EQUATE as the company was able to bring down it’s Recordable Injury Rate below the target of 0.24%.  Al -Terkait gave credit to EQUATE employees and contract workers saying, “it is our people-discipline and diligent individual and team effort, along with our ‘leading into our future together’ attitude, that made this possible.”

EQUATE’s commitment to 100% compliance of Environment, Health and Safety regulations, as well as the staff’s high level of dedication and personal accountability, has made this achievement possible. To maintain a safe working environment, the company undergoes regular safety compliance audits, internally and through external agencies, in addition to conducting stringent employee evaluations, education and training.

EQUATE Petrochemical Company is a leading producer of ethylene glycol and a broad variety of linear-low and high-density polyethylene.
