As part of its continuous sustainability-based efforts through embodying its “Partners in Success” slogan, EQUATE Petrochemical Company, Kuwait’s first international joint-venture in this industry, launched a number of initiatives during the holy month of Ramadan.
The initiatives, reflecting some elements of EQUATE Sustainability Program, were conducted in partnership with relevant organizations in Kuwait for the benefit of all members of the society, nationals and expats a like.
In cooperation with Zakat House, for the second consecutive year, EQUATE hosted Ramadan Iftar meals throughout the entire month at a number of mosques for several members of the Kuwaiti society as part of humanitarian contribution, which included the participation of several employees from EQUATE in distributing and serving meals.
In addition, with human resources being the main elements of its success, contractors from diverse nationalities and representing different companies that have business ties with EQUATE were provided with Suhoor meals throughout the blessed month.
Maintaining its focus on health and awareness, EQUATE sponsored, for the second consecutive year, the Rijeemy Walkathon organized by Rijeemy Center to promote a lifestyle of physical fitness and overall wellbeing through regular exercise, healthy eating habits and other relevant matters.
Along those lines, EQUATE contributed, for the second consecutive year, the efforts of the Kuwait Association for the Care of Children in Hospital (KACCH) with a number of giveaways to bring joy to the society’s children. During 2012, EQUATE and KACCH launched Painting Smiles (PS) campaign to create community awareness about children receiving medical care in hospitals. PS included an art exhibition for selling paintings by those children and Kuwaiti artists with all proceeds being for the benefit of KACCH.
Furthermore, as part of sharing with children to bring smiles to their hearts and interact with them, EQUATE presented, for the second consecutive year, giveaways to members of Children Home which includes orphans under the care of the Ministry of Social Affairs & Labor.
These activities were executed through the participation of several EQUATE employees, including Polyethylene Production Leader Humoud Al-Enezi, Strategic Sourcing Specialist Shirin Kamshad, Environmental Expert Asrar Mohammad, Senior Supply Chain Planner, Analytical Technologist Mohamad Dusgi, Senior Operations Technologist Mohammad Sheikh, Senior Production Engineer Hisham Mohammed, Senior Maintenance Technologist Ramadan Hussain and Senior Operations Technologist Mohammad Mughal.
In recognition of its sustainability achievements, EQUATE has earned several prestigious honors, including His Highness the Amir Award for the Best Plant in Kuwait; American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) Gold Award in Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) for Gulf private sector companies; The Award for Best Gulf Company in Recruiting Nationals; Arabian Business Best CSR Company Award; Oil & Gas (O&G) Middle East CSR Award; O&G Best Implemented Environmental Program of the Year; Middle East Chemical Week (MECW) Plant of the Year Award; as well as Kuwait’s CSR Award in the Industrial and Oil Sector. In addition, EQUATE has received the Highly Commended Best Community Program Award during the First Middle East CSR Award Summit.
