Kuwait – 9 August 2014 — Continuing its sustainability-based manifestation of the tagline “Partners in Success,” EQUATE Petrochemical Company, Kuwait’s first private sector petrochemical company, launched a number of initiatives during the holy month of Ramadan.
The initiatives, reflecting elements in EQUATE Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Program, were in partnership with relevant organizations in Kuwait for the benefit of all members of the society, nationals and expats a like.
In cooperation with Zakat House, EQUATE hosted Ramadan Iftar meals throughout that entire month for several members of the Kuwaiti society as part of humanitarian contribution.
Also, with human resources being the main elements of its success, contractors from diverse nationalities and representing different companies that have business ties with EQUATE were presented with Suhoor meals during the whole blessed month
Maintaining its focus on health and awareness, EQUATE sponsored the Rijeemy Walkathon organized by Rijeemy Center to promote a lifestyle of fitness and wellbeing through regular exercise, healthy eating habits and other relevant matters.
Sharing the spirit of giving, EQUATE participated “Weight of Love” campaign launched by Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS), where EQUATE employees with their families and friends donated toys that will be gifted to children in need through the society.
Along those lines, EQUATE contributed to the efforts of Kuwait Association for the Care of Children in Hospital (KACCH) with a number of giveaways to bring joy to the society’s children. During 2012, EQUATE and KACCH launched Painting Smiles (PS) campaign to create community awareness about children receiving medical care in hospitals. PS included an art exhibition that included selling paintings by those children and Kuwaiti artists with all proceeds being for the benefit of KACCH.
In addition, as part of sharing with children to bring smiles to their hearts, EQUATE presented giveaways to members of Children Home which includes orphans under the care of the Ministry of Social Affairs & Labor.
In recognition of its sustainability achievements, EQUATE has earned several prestigious honors, including His Highness the Amir Award for the Best Plant in Kuwait; American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) Gold Award in Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) for Gulf private sector companies; The Award for Best Gulf Company in Recruiting Nationals; Arabian Business Best CSR Company Award; Oil & Gas (O&G) Middle East CSR Award; O&G Best Implemented Environmental Program of the Year; Middle East Chemical Week (MECW) Plant of the Year Award; as well as Kuwait’s CSR Award in the Industrial and Oil Sector. In addition, EQUATE has received the Highly Commended Best Community Program Award during the First Middle East CSR Award Summit.
