EQUATE has reported an excellent Environment, Health and Safety (EH&S) performance in 2007.

In 2007, there was a 30% improvement on number of injuries Vs. 2006 (only 7 reportable injuries on site that resumed normal work the following day. No significant injuries sustained at all) and there were no major (Category-1) leaks, breaks and spills.

“This outstanding performance for our site has been possible because of the personal commitment of our employees and contractors. This is a marvelous performance from the EQUATE and contractor employees who clearly are making the safety culture part of their everyday lives,” according to EH&S Department Leader Yousef Al-Gharabally, “We look upon our success with pride and with the understanding that our efforts on the EH&S front must continue long into the future.”

As reported in Yousef’s year-end message, EQUATE achieved outstanding EH&S results as listed below:

  • Achieved 2007 target for Recordable Injury Rate of 0.22
  • Zero Process Safety Incidents.
  • Zero Category-1 Leak/release incidents.
  • Zero ‘Day Away From Work Case” injuries and achieved 8 Million Safe working hours.

At EQUATE, effective safety performance is not a one time occasion or something that is just talked about. Protection of the environment and safety of EQUATE employees is an important part of the company’s vision.

EQUATE’s top leadership defines the strategic EH&S goals towards Sustainable Development, reflecting the company’s vision to manage EH&S, social and natural resources without jeopardizing the needs of future generations.
