EQUATE Petrochemical Company, Kuwait’s first international joint-venture in this industry, hosted Kuwait University’s Security & Safety Department to share best practices relevant to Environment, Health, Safety & Security (EHSS) as part of the company’s slogan “Partners in Success.”
Kuwait University’s Security & Safety Department Manager Khaled Al-Yaqoot said, “The visit was aimed at interacting and cooperating in matters relevant to the department’s activities through exchanging expertise with other organizations. The exchange includes identifying systems and equipment utilized by EQUATE, especially in terms of security, fire services, safety, access control of employees and contractors, as well as directional and warning signs along with integrated security guidelines. In addition, the visit highlighted EQUATE’s evacuation process, types of alarms, fire protection equipment and periodic medical examinations. As the meeting included discussing several matters, the Security & Safety Department hopes such visits would enable it to benefit from the private sector’s capabilities and apply such world-class methods at Kuwait University.”
On his part, EQUATE Emergency Services & Security (ES&S) Leader Abdulqader Al-Qabandi addressed the company’s EHSS regulations which are based on global standards and requirements. The topics included issuing electronic cards for human resources at the company, vehicle permits, measures to maintain security, dealing with emergencies, training EHSS staff, organizing traffic within plants owned and operated by the company as part of the Greater EQUATE joint-venture. In addition, he noted the company’s implementation of various guidelines relevant to the safety and security of the industrial sector as stipulated by Ministry of Interior’s Vital & Oil Installations Protection Department, Shuaiba Industrial Area and the Responsible Care (RC) organization as EQUATE is the first RC certified and accredited company in Kuwait.
