EQUATE participates in Somalia relief efforts

Kuwait – July 27 – 2011 — Embodying its sustainability efforts within and outside Kuwait, EQUATE Petrochemical Company announced its participation in Somalia relief efforts through a USD 100,000 donation to Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS).

After handing the donation to KRCS Chairman Barjas Al-Barjas, EQUATE Government Liaison Manager Mohammad Gharib Hatem said that such contribution is part of its continuous support to humanitarian initiatives.

While lauding the initiative of His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to support Somalia, Hatem noted KRCS’ role and expertise in such efforts.

EQUATE’s sustainability driven Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy addresses critical arising humanitarian matters within Kuwait and beyond, added Hatem.

Established in 1995, EQUATE is an international joint venture between Petrochemical Industries Company (PIC), The Dow Chemical Company (Dow), Boubyan Petrochemical Company (BPC) and Qurain Petrochemical Industries Company (QPIC). Commencing production in 1997, EQUATE is the single operator of a fully integrated world-scale manufacturing facility producing over 5 million tons annually of high-quality petrochemical products which are marketed throughout the Middle East, Asia, Africa and Europe.
