EQUATE Petrochemical Company, Kuwait’s first international petrochemical joint-venture, sponsored the 17th Career Fair organized by Kuwait University’s College of Engineering & Petroleum.

EQUATE Senior Executive for Corporate Business Development Tareq Al-Kandari said, “Being a firm believer in the importance of establishing strategic partnerships with various relevant organizations, EQUATE has throughout the years launched a number of critical initiatives with many bodies throughout Kuwait, with the aim of supporting and developing Kuwaiti human resources. These initiatives include university scholarships with the Ministry of Higher Education for company employee and Kuwaiti high school graduates; Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and sponsoring establishing academic and scientific facilities at a number of Kuwait University’s colleges; as well as strong collaboration with Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR) and Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS), all of which are aimed at embodying our ‘Partners in Success’ tagline. In addition, for quite some years, the average Kuwaitization rate at EQUATE has exceeded 50 percent in terms of total employees, while over 90% of senior and middle management being nationals. EQUATE, naturally, continues its focus on developing and training its human resources through an integrated systematic approach to ensure overall sustainability.”

On his part, EQUATE Talent & Performance Management Leader Mohammad Al-Sharhan said, “During 2008, EQUATE forged a comprehensive partnership with Kuwait University’s College of Engineering & Petroleum through signing an MoU in academic and industrial fields to support the faculty’s activities and plans. The MoU includes participating in career fairs, sponsoring conferences and seminars, establishing first of their kind labs at Kuwaiti universities, internships for engineering students, as well as providing the college’s faculty members with information and data regarding the petrochemical industry, such as products, manufacturing, along with Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S).

During the fair, EQUATE’s stand was visited by Ministry of State for Youth Affairs Undersecretary Sheikha Alzain Sabah Al-Nasser Al-Sabah and over 400 individuals representing Kuwait University’s faculty members and students, as well as others visiting the fair. Moreover, EQUATE was selected as one of the top organizations participating in the exhibition for the integrated recruitment process through its website www.equate.com, the unique design of its booth, along with the interaction between its employees and all visitors.
