EQUATE sponsors engineering faculty’s job fair

EQUATE Petrochemical Company co-sponsored the 11th Job Fair of Kuwait University’s College of Engineering and Petroleum which kicked off under the patronage of Minister of Commerce and Industry who was represented by Commerce and Industry Undersecretary Rasheed Al-Tabtabae.

EQUATE President and CEO Hamad Al-Terkait said the company’s participation in this event stemmed from its firm belief in people as the greatest  asset and a crucial factor in boosting and developing Kuwait’s industrial sector through attracting distinguished students to work for EQUATE after graduation.

During last March, EQUATE and the College of Engineering and Petroleum signed a Memorandum of Cooperation to strengthen and boost ties in academic and industrial fields, noted Al-Terkait.

EQUATE Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program is based on being a “Valued Neighbor to the communities in which we operate” through positive interaction, launching community-based programs and establishing training programs for graduate students, said Al-Terkait.

In 2007, EQUATE won His Highness the Amir’s Award for the Best Plant in Kuwait, as well as Kuwait’s first Corporate Social Responsibility Award for the Industrial and Energy Sector, said Al-Terkait who added that the company had also won the Gulf’s award for the best private company in terms of hiring nationals who comprised 59 percent of the company’s manpower in 2007.

Considered one of the world’s leading companies in producing polyethylene and ethylene glycol, EQUATE was established in 1995 as a joint venture between Petrochemical Industries Company (PIC) and The Dow Chemical Company with each having a 42.5% share in EQUATE, as well as Boubyan Petrochemicals Company and Qurain Petrochemical Industries Company which have a 9% and 6% stakes respectively in EQUATE.

It commenced production in 1997 and currently provides markets in the Middle East, Asia, Africa and Europe with high quality petrochemical products at competitive rates.
