EQUATE sponsors Kuwait Supply Chain & Logistics Conference Al-Kharraz: EQUATE’s 2011 shipments exceeded 3.7 million tons

Kuwait – December 13 – 2011 – EQUATE Petrochemical Company said its total shipments for 2011 have so far exceeded 3.7 million metric tons with a total transaction value exceeding USD 2 billion.

Speaking at Kuwait Supply Chain & Logistics Conference & Exhibition, EQUATE Integrated Supply Chain (ISC) Leader Salah Al-Kharraz explained that EQUATE’s shipments include solid material such as polyethylene and polypropylene, as well as the main liquids that include ethylene glycol, styrene monomer and paraxylene.

Al-Kharraz added that the Middle East has exported over 29 million metric tons (MT) of petrochemicals during 2010, noting that EQUATE utilizes the services of several companies to deliver products from EQUATE and other Greater EQUATE entities to various customers in the Middle East, Asia, Africa and Europe.

Al-Kharraz said that EQUATE is sponsoring this event is to promote the importance of ISC business and to facilitate discussion on complex and diverse issues relevant to this significant business segment within day-to-day and long-term activities.

Held under the patronage of Minister of Electricity & Water Salem Al-Athayna, the two-day conference started on December 14 in Kuwait.

Established in 1995, EQUATE is an international joint venture between Petrochemical Industries Company (PIC), The Dow Chemical Company (Dow), Boubyan Petrochemical Company (BPC) and Qurain Petrochemical Industries Company (QPIC). Commencing production in 1997, EQUATE is the single operator of a fully integrated world-scale manufacturing facility producing over 5 million tons annually of high-quality petrochemical products which are marketed throughout the Middle East, Asia, Africa and Europe.
