EQUATE achieves 15 Million Safe Work Hours

For the first time since its inception, EQUATE Petrochemical Company announced achieving 15 Million safe Work Hours on December 28, 2008.

The Safe Work Hours included all EQUATE employees, as well as contractors working with the company.

Commenting on this milestone, EQUATE’s Environment, Health and Safety (EH&S) Department Leader Yousef Al-Gharabally said “This is a World Class achievement reflecting EQUATE’s true embodiment of the highest standards in all sectors of business.”

Al-Gharabally added “Being an international Joint Venture, EQUATE continues to lead our industry in safety performance through realizing distinguished milestones. In addition,  there are two core things at EQUATE: safety and people as all work has to be safe and performed by qualified people who are viewed as the company’s owners.”

Al-Gharabally further noted “Achieving this milestone, with an extraordinary recordable injury rate of 0.057, represents that each and everyone at EQUATE reaches home safely everyday.”

Al-Gharabally added “This record is even more impressive due to the fact that a number of plants were being commissioned during this period along the execution of various project activities.”

On his part, EQUATE’s  President & CEO Hamad Al-Terkait noted “This is a very proud moment for EQUATE’s management, employees, shareholders, contractors and all other stakeholders.”

On behalf of EQUATE’s Board of Directors and EQUATE Management Team, Al-Terkait extended heartfelt congratulations to all EQUATE employees and contractors  on this great achievement.

Considered one of the world’s leading companies in producing Polyethylene and Ethylene Glycol, EQUATE was established in 1995 and it is presently a joint venture between Petrochemical Industries Company (PIC), The Dow Chemical Company, Boubyan Petrochemicals Company and Qurain Petrochemical Industries Company.
