Fire department & EQUATE continue their sustainable partnership

Kuwait Fire Safety Directorate (KFSD) and EQUATE Petrochemical Company, Kuwait’s first international petrochemical joint-venture, announced continuing their sustainable partnership in all relevant fields through joint international training courses for KFSD’s staff and company employees.

KFSD Director of Al-Ahmadi Governorate Fire Department Colonel Tareq Al-Munayes said, “Development, progress and adopting latest advances are a must at all times, especially when relevant to protecting and saving lives, as well as preserving property from damage, which constitute the core work of KFSD that always seeks to fulfill its national role. Without any doubt, this partnership with EQUATE is aimed at realizing noteworthy objectives through having KFSD and EQUATE staff attend joint international training courses in advanced industrial firefighting and hazmat to develop capabilities and adopting global best practices to serve this country and all its population, citizens and expatriates alike.”

On his part, KFSD Director of Public Relations & Media Colonel Khalil Al-Ameer said, “Achieving what serves the benefit and safety of the community as a whole is the cornerstone of KFSD which always aspires to realize the best of results in terms of planning, follow-up, prevention and firefighting. Therefore, continuing this sustainable partnership with EQUATE through these international training courses is a positive extension of the constructive and fruitful cooperation as both sides that have already launched several initiatives to serve the interests of Kuwait, such as Safety at Every Home Campaign (Safe) to implement a number of KFSD’s strategic objectives. The campaign focused on holding opens days at malls and colleges for direct public awareness on how to handle fire extinguishers, types of fires, smoke detectors, gas cylinders, gas leaks, fire evacuation, dealing with different emergencies and the importance of calling Emergency Number 112 when needed.”

EQUATE Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) Leader Mohammad Al-Shamary said, “Based on our ‘Partners in Success’ tagline, this partnership with KFSD is part of our strategic approach that is based on sustainability with all its relevant principles and objectives. For that, these joint training courses are a significant element in establishing further collaboration and coordination between both sides in several fields that constitute a necessity in the industrial sector that includes several guidelines and procedures relevant to various operations, projects, maintenance, manufacturing, distribution and storing. Being the single operator of several plants under its ownership or owned by other petrochemical companies, EQUATE ensures absolute abidance by all requirements to ensure a setting that addresses all EH&S matters, such as having a dedicated Emergency Response Team to handle all arising matters and coordinate with KFSD which deserves utmost appreciation and gratitude.”

EQUATE hosted a KFSD delegation which included colonels Al-Munayes and Al-Ameer. The visit included discussing a number of topics and a tour of EQUATE’s facilities.

With its initial founding taking place during 1947, Kuwait Fire Service Directorate (KFSD) is currently an independent government authority under the supervision of State Minister for Council of Ministers Affairs in the State of Kuwait.
