Kuwait – October 25 – 2011 — The Ministry of Electricity and Water recognized EQUATE Petrochemical Company for its efforts in conserving energy sources through the plants it owns and operates in Kuwait.

During the recognition, the head of the ministry’s Oil Sector Conservation Team Iqbal Al-Tayyar noted EQUATE’s pioneering and distinguished role in maintaining these resources and its active participation in the Higher Energy Conservation Committee.  EQUATE is represented in the committee by its Government Liaison Manager Mohammad Gharib Hatem.

On his part, Hatem highlighted EQUATE’s various initiatives in conserving the consumption of water and electricity, such as launching the Middle East’s first plant water recycling project, adding that EQUATE extends unwavering support to the ministry which include providing it with all relevant data and information.

Established in 1995, EQUATE is an international joint venture between Petrochemical Industries Company (PIC), The Dow Chemical Company (Dow), Boubyan Petrochemical Company (BPC) and Qurain Petrochemical Industries Company (QPIC). Commencing production in 1997, EQUATE is the single operator of a fully integrated world-scale manufacturing facility producing over 5 million tons annually of high-quality petrochemical products which are marketed throughout the Middle East, Asia, Africa and Europe.
